Environmental Health is defined by World Health Organisation (WHO) as:
Level 5 Diploma in Health Science (Environmental Health) is a new programme offered by Politeknik Brunei under the School of Health Sciences, in collaboration with the Department of Environmental Health Services, Ministry of Health, to equip students with knowledge and skills in environmental health professionals.
Designed to equip students a comprehensive learning, skills and practical experience to identify, assess, audit and recommend prevention and control for environmental hazards.
The students need to understand the role of public health in promoting good health and ensuring the risk of public safety and health poses a minimum danger to human health. Through lectures, tutorials and fieldwork, students will acquire knowledge about environmental health issues, such as environmental pollution, public health law, epidemiology and public health, food safety and occupational health.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Acquire knowledge, understanding and appropriate skills in every aspect of environmental health
Risk analysis of environmental health issues and being able to provide a diverse and effective environment and public health action.
Enable individuals to obtain a recognized qualification and registered as Environmental Health Professions
CAREER IN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Graduates with Diploma in Health Sciences (Environmental Health) are qualified to work as Environmental Health Practitioners in the Government and Private Sectors, as Health Inspectors, Assistant Environmental Health Officers and etc.
In addition, Graduates can pursue further qualifications at degree, master and PHD’s levels in various fields such as Health and Safety, Food Safety, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Entomology, Environmental Health, food safety and etc.
