Today, the information profession around the world sits at the heart of social, cultural, economic, commercial, educational and industrial activities. With the evolution of the internet and the growth of information, librarians and information professionals need to handle and manage information and technology in their organisations.
Currently, Politeknik Brunei is the only higher institution in Brunei Darussalam offering a Level 5 Diploma in librarianship course.
The programme provides relevant content, knowledge and skills required, covering across libraries, information centres, preservation institutions and Information Communication Technology (ICT). It also prepares graduates for exciting and challenging careers as information professionals in this digital era.
The programme also aims to produce graduates with professional management and for them to be able to cope with changes from traditional to technical and digital librarianship. It also aims to equip the students with the necessary skills for the emerging leadership roles in librarianship.
At the end of the programme, students should be able to conduct research on library and information leadership and management, digital library, data analytics and producing publication papers.
