10 March 2026 — 10 Chemical Engineering students from Politeknik Brunei (PB) embarked on an educational journey to Lanzhou, People’s Republic of China, from 10 March to June 2026, as part of the collaborative programme between Hengyi Industries Sendirian Berhad (Hengyi Industries) and PB to further their studies at Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT).
This opportunity provides the students with valuable international exposure, allowing them to enhance their technical knowledge, gain hands-on industry insights, and experience a different academic and cultural environment. It is hoped that the knowledge and skills gained throughout this programme will inspire them to excel in their field and contribute meaningfully to the development of Brunei Darussalam’s energy and petrochemical industries.
Also present to send them off this morning were the Acting Director of Politeknik Brunei, Pg Dr Saiful Baharin bin Pg Haji Duraman, along with representatives from Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd.
The sending-off ceremony was also attended by the Head of School of Petrochemical, lecturers, officers, students, as well as the students’ families and friends.
Prior to their departure, a Sponsorship Signing Ceremony for the Diploma in Chemical Engineering (DCHG04) involving the 10 students was held with Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd on 24 February 2026 at Hengyi Industries.
