Conducting Research Involving Politeknik Brunei (PB) Students or Staff (For Non-PB Researchers)
Researchers from outside Politeknik Brunei who are interested in conducting research involving PB students or staff must follow the process outlined below:
Step 1: Obtain Research Clearance from Your Own Institution
Before approaching Politeknik Brunei, ensure that:
- You have received research clearance or ethics approval from your home institution.
- This may include clearance from a Research Ethics Committee, Institutional Review Board (IRB), or a similar body.
Step 2: Submit a Formal Request to Politeknik Brunei
- Your institution must send a formal request (memo or letter) addressed to Politeknik Brunei, clearly stating:
- The intent to conduct research at PB,
- The purpose and scope of the research,
- The targeted participants (students and/or staff),
- Any relevant supporting documents (e.g., research proposal, ethical clearance, consent forms).
Step 3: Wait for Acknowledgement from PB
- Politeknik Brunei must receive and acknowledge the formal request before any further steps are taken by the researcher.
Step 4: Submit the PB Survey Dissemination Request Form (PB SDRF)
- Once the formal request has been acknowledged by PB, the researcher may complete and submit the PB Survey Dissemination Request Form (PB SDRF).
- Submit the completed form to:
researchrequest@pb.edu.bn
Step 5: Await Approval from Politeknik Brunei
- PB will review your application and supporting documents.
- Only upon receiving formal approval from PB, the researcher may proceed with data collection or contact with PB staff/students.
Important Notes:
- Incomplete or prematurely submitted forms will not be processed.
- All communication should be professional and routed through the appropriate institutional channels.
- Approval is not guaranteed and may depend on internal policies and ethical considerations.
