26 May 2026 – Politeknik Brunei (PB) congratulated Ms Humaidah Binti DP Dr Hj Muhammad Nur Lubis, lecturer from the School of Petrochemical (SPC), on securing First Place at the Action Research Showcase 2026 organised by the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE). Her award-winning research project, entitled “Enhancing Mechanistic Reasoning Skills and Mechanistic Representation in SN1/SN2 Nucleophilic Substitution through Scaffolded Game-Based Learning in Organic Chemistry,” explored an innovative approach to strengthening students’ understanding of organic chemistry through scaffolded, game-based learning strategies.
The research highlighted the use of interactive learning approaches to enhance students’ mechanistic reasoning and representation skills in understanding SN1 and SN2 nucleophilic substitution. The achievement reflected SPC’s commitment to promoting educational innovation, applied research and the continuous enhancement of teaching and learning practices in support of future-ready Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
