10th September 2025 – Diploma in Health Sciences (Public Health) students from Politeknik Brunei embarked on an academic exposure visit to the Ministry of Health, aimed at deepening their understanding of the diverse fields within public health practice. The visit was warmly received by YM Dr. Yusma Jeffrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Md. Yussof, Acting Director of Environmental Health Services, who welcomed the students and highlighted the Ministry’s vital role in safeguarding public health through comprehensive policies, programs, and operational strategies.The morning session at the Ministry Headquarters focused on the Environmental Health Division, where students explored key units such as the Environmental Health Surveillance Unit, Port Health Unit, Vector Control Unit, and Entomology Unit. This was followed by an introduction to the Brunei Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, where students learned about the Noncommunicable Disease Unit and its important role in preventing and managing chronic diseases.

In the afternoon, the visit continued at the Brunei Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, specifically at the Epidemic Intelligence and Response Unit in RBPC, Jerudong. The program concluded with a sharing and exchange session with alumni of the same program who are now serving at the Ministry of Health, providing valuable insights, experiences, and encouragement to support the visiting students in their studies and future careers.

Through this visit, students experienced firsthand how environmental health, disease prevention, and outbreak response are coordinated at the national level, while also discovering potential career pathways within the Ministry of Health.
