In support of national efforts to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) under Wawasan Brunei 2035 and aligned with the Ministry of Education Strategic Plan 2023–2027, Politeknik Brunei’s School of Health Sciences recently organized an educational field visit to Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (BLNG) for students from the Diploma in Health Sciences (Public Health) program. The visit provided students with valuable exposure to operational practices in health, safety, and environmental management within the energy sector.
The visit forms part of Politeknik Brunei’s ongoing academic and industry engagement initiatives aimed at bridging classroom learning with practical application, particularly in the areas of health and safety, environmental protection, and public health enforcement.
During the visit, students gained critical insights into Brunei LNG’s health and safety protocols, environmental protection measures, sustainability initiatives, and regulatory compliance practices. The opportunity enabled students to better understand the dynamic standards and operational excellence required in the oil and gas industry, while also exploring potential career pathways within the industrial health, safety, and environmental sectors.
Politeknik Brunei and Brunei LNG have maintained close collaboration over the years, particularly through BLNG’s contributions to program reviews, the sharing of industry expertise, and the alignment of academic curricula with evolving industry needs. This partnership has been instrumental in enhancing the relevance of Politeknik Brunei’s academic offerings and preparing graduates to meet workforce demands.
Building on the success of the visit, Politeknik Brunei hopes to explore future opportunities to strengthen collaboration with Brunei LNG. Potential areas of interest include the provision of structured internship placements, career guidance and mentorship related to opportunities within the oil and gas industries, support for final year projects and industry-linked capstone initiatives, as well as the participation of Brunei LNG professionals in guest lectures, curriculum enrichment, and specialized training activities.
Politeknik Brunei remains steadfast in its commitment to producing innovative, future-ready graduates who are aligned with both national priorities and industry expectations. By fostering strong partnerships with leading organizations such as Brunei LNG, Politeknik Brunei continues to advance excellence in TVET education and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s vision of cultivating a highly skilled, adaptable, and competitive workforce.
