13 October 2025 – In a meaningful effort to support digital education and bridge the technology gap among students, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) has donated a total of 15 units of information technology (IT) assets, comprising six managed switches, four rack servers, two tape libraries, and three firewalls, to the School of Information and Communication Technology (SICT), Politeknik Brunei. The contribution aims to strengthen the school’s technological infrastructure and promote a more conducive digital learning environment for students.

The handover ceremony took place at Politeknik Brunei and was graced by the presence of the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Puan Hajah Sufinah binti Haji Sahat, Assistant Managing Director (Corporate Development) of BDCB. Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Tuan Mohammad Soffean bin Haji Junaidi, Head of Corporate Services Division and Deputy Chairman of BDCB’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee; Yang Mulia Siti Nur Afiqah binti DP Col (B) Haji Joharie, Head of Technology Division; along with officers from BDCB.

Representing Politeknik Brunei were Yang Mulia Dayang Rahimah binti Haji Mohiddin, Assistant Director (Academic); Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Dinah Haziqah binti Haji Johan, Acting Assistant Director (Corporate, Planning and Development); Yang Mulia Dayang Armah binti Tengah, Acting Principal; together with the Heads of Divisions, the Head of SICT, and officers of Politeknik Brunei.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, followed by welcoming remarks from Yang Mulia Dayang Rahimah binti Haji Mohiddin, who emphasized the importance of collaboration with BDCB in fostering an innovative and sustainable learning ecosystem. This was followed by a speech of appreciation from the Guest of Honour, who reaffirmed BDCB’s ongoing commitment to advancing education and innovation in Brunei Darussalam.

The event proceeded with the symbolic handover of 15 units of IT assets to Politeknik Brunei by the Guest of Honour. In response, Politeknik Brunei expressed its sincere appreciation for BDCB’s generous contribution, acknowledging that the donated IT equipment will greatly benefit students. A token of appreciation was then presented to BDCB in recognition of its valued support.

This initiative forms part of BDCB’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, which focuses on advancing education and fostering community development through technology-driven initiatives.
