28 October 2025 – In conjunction with the 11th Politeknik Brunei Convocation, Politeknik Brunei held the Excellence Award Ceremony 2025 at the Goldstone Ballroom, The Centrepoint Hotel, Gadong. The ceremony celebrated 28 selected award recipients from the Class of 2025 for their outstanding achievements. The recipients comprised graduates and students from five schools: the School of Business, School of Information and Communication Technology, School of Science and Engineering, School of Health Sciences, and School of Petrochemical.

The event began with the arrival of award recipients, parents, sponsors, and members of the PB Board of Governors, followed by the arrival of His Excellency Mr. Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei, and the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani, Deputy Minister (Fiscal), Ministry of Finance and Economy, in her capacity as Chairman of the PB Board of Governors.

Also present were representatives from the Ministry of Education, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Huawei Technologies (B) Sdn. Bhd., Innovation Awards juries, and event sponsors. Among those in attendance were Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Dinah Haziqah binti Haji Johan, Acting Assistant Director (Corporate, Planning and Development); Yang Mulia Dayang Rahimah binti Mohiddin, Acting Assistant Director (Academic); and Yang Mulia Dayang Armah binti Tengah, Acting Principal of Politeknik Brunei, along with several heads of schools, officers, and proud family members.

The ceremony officially commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat by Yang Mulia Imam Muhammad Tsuufiy bin Haji Abd Wahab, followed by welcoming remarks from Yang Mulia Pengiran Dr Saiful Baharin bin Pengiran Haji Duraman, Acting Director of Politeknik Brunei.

The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to the 28 recipients by Yang Mulia Deputy Minister, under five categories: Best Student Award, Academic Excellence Awards, Enrichment Activities Excellence Awards, Innovation Awards, and Chinese Ambassador Awards. The Best Student Award was presented to Dayang Nurhazimah binti Taha, a graduate with a Level 5 Diploma in Data Analytics from the School of Information and Communication Technology, who also received an Academic Excellence Award.

The Chinese Ambassador Award, sponsored by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, was presented to 21 recipients from various programmes by His Excellency Mr. Xiao Jianguo. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the Ambassador and sponsors by the Acting Director, followed by a group photo session and refreshments for all guests and award recipients.
