5 October 2025 – In conjunction with the 11th Politeknik Brunei Convocation Ceremony, Politeknik Brunei held the Launch of Pesta Konvo and Charity Walkathon “Green Steps” with SMARTER Brunei, which took place at the Ong Sum Ping Campus, Politeknik Brunei (PB).
The event commenced with the arrival of the Guest of Honour, Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education, at 6.50 a.m. The ceremony continued with the singing of the National Anthem of Brunei Darussalam and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the official launching of the 11th Pesta Konvo by the Guest of Honour.
With the theme “Sustainability: Our Youths’ Way of Life”, this year’s Pesta Konvo focuses on strengthening the values of sustainability in everyday life aligning with the Wawasan Brunei 2035. The Charity Walkathon “Green Steps” with SMARTER Brunei is one of Politeknik Brunei’s initiatives to instill a culture of sustainability among its community while also supporting SMARTER Brunei in raising funds and collecting essential items for their use.
The event continued with a donation handover ceremony to SMARTER Brunei, comprising of pre-loved items such as clothing, school supplies including stationery, coloured pencils and colouring books, as well as educational materials and sensory toys for the use of SMARTER Brunei students. Following the donation session, the Guest of Honour, together with Politeknik Brunei staff, students and SMARTER Brunei, joined a warm-up session before taking part in the Charity Walkathon around the Ong Sum Ping area, which concluded back at the Politeknik Brunei campus. To conclude the event, the Guest of Honour also had the opportunity to view the Final Year Project (FYP) Exhibition presented by Politeknik Brunei students.
This year’s Pesta Konvo will run throughout October, with Kelestarian@PB, taking place from 6th to 9th October 2025, featuring Final Year Project (FYP) exhibitions by Politeknik Brunei students, a variety of sales booths, and career talks including those by MSME BIBD, recruitment briefings by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), as well as sharing sessions by PB Excellence Alumni for students, particularly graduating students of PB. In addition, a Blood Donation Drive organised by the School of Health Sciences in collaboration with the Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) will also be held on Tuesday, 7th October 2025.
Pesta Konvo 2025 also feature a series of events, including the Majlis Khatam Al-Quran at Universiti Brunei Darussalam Mosque on 9th October 2025 and the PB Sports Festival on 18th October 2025. The month-long celebration will culminate with the PB Graduates’ Excellence Award Ceremony on 28th October 2025.
