18 September 2025 – Politeknik Brunei’s School of Health Sciences (SHS) organized an academic visit to the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) for 20 Diploma in Health Sciences (Public Health) students and three lecturers.
The visit provided students with firsthand exposure to SHENA’s role in regulating, monitoring, and enforcing safety, health, and environmental standards in Brunei Darussalam. The group was warmly received by Yang Mulia Dyg Umi Khadijah binti Haji Mohd Zaini, Director of Human Resources & Corporate Services Division, SHENA.

Presentations highlighted SHENA’s mandate, legal frameworks, enforcement activities, and career opportunities, giving students valuable insights into workplace safety laws, common violations, and internship or apprenticeship pathways. Looking ahead, both parties discussed future collaborations, including guest lectures, joint supervision of final year projects, and internship placements for students, further strengthening the link between academia and industry.
