
Belait, 21 July 2025 – Politeknik Brunei (PB) has taken a significant step toward international collaboration by formalising a strategic partnership with Lanzhou Petrochemical University of Vocational Technology (LPUVT), China. The partnership was solidified through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at fostering mutual cooperation in education, training, and research.
Under this MoU, both institutions will engage in a wide range of collaborative activities, including student and staff exchange programmes, the implementation of the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” initiative, joint academic research, co-publications, and the sharing of academic information and resources.
The signing ceremony was held at the School of Petrochemical, Lumut Campus, Politeknik Brunei, and began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah. It was followed by opening remarks from Yang Mulia Pengiran Dr. Saiful Baharin bin Pengiran Haji Duraman, Acting Director of Politeknik Brunei, who highlighted the significance of the collaboration.
“This collaboration marks a significant step forward in fostering a strong partnership between our institutions in the realms of research, education, and training programmes,” he remarked.
Yang Mulia Pengiran Dr. Saiful Baharin bin Pengiran Haji Duraman signed the MoU on behalf of Politeknik Brunei, accompanied by Acting Principal Dayang Hajah Armah binti Tengah. Signing on behalf of LPUVT was Yang Mulia Mr. Liu Xingqin, Vice President of the university, alongside Liu Yafang, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office.
Also in attendance were Chen Peng, Dean of the School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at LPUVT; Alan Goh, Managing Director of Human Resources at Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd; as well as several heads of divisions and schools from Politeknik Brunei.
Following the signing, the LPUVT delegation was taken on a guided tour of the Lumut Campus, including its classrooms and workshops. The visit provided insight into PB’s facilities and academic environment, reinforcing the commitment to future collaborations and mutual understanding.
