​Politeknik Brunei, PB and Hengyi Industries Sendirian Berhad achieved another milestone through collaboration in assisting the needs of the human resources development for phase two of the Pulau Muara Besar Project. The collaboration was further strengthened with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU at Indera Samudra Grand Hall of The Empire Brunei, Jerudong.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohd Hussein, Minister of Energy; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education; and Her Excellency Yu Hong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam. Signing on behalf of PB was Lim Kian Boon, Acting Director of PB, while Hengyi Industries was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Chen Lian Cai.

Under the MoU, five new joint academic programmes will be held for PB students. The Level 5 Diploma programmes consist of Thermal Power Plant Technology; Water Treatment Technology; Chemical Equipment Technology; Power Plant and Power System Technology; and Storage and Transportation Technology. The programmes will begin in July 2021, and consist of 2 years of academic education and 1 year of industrial placement with Hengyi. As part of the MoU, Hengyi provided a conditional offer to 85 students under the two programmes, where they will be given employment opportunities with the company upon graduating.
