• OGFEST 2015

    A team from Politeknik Brunei left for Johor Baharu to compete in the OGFEST which starts on 16 November 2015. Dr Tang Shi Siong, the Acting Head of School of Science and Engineering (SSE) who represented the Acting Director and Acting Assistant Director of Politeknik Brunei, was present at a pre-departure event with other senior lecturers and staff from SSE. A Doa Selamat was recited by Awg Sarifulrizal bin Haji Jambul, followed by a short motivational speech by the Acting Head of School.

     

     

    Some parents of the participating students were also present at the event. The Politeknik Brunei team, which is supported by the Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd, comprises of 4 students (Mohammad Wafiuddin bin Ya'akub, Nadiah Haji Hassan, Nurol Azfizah binti Mohammad Roszaimey, Nurul Haziqah bin Azhar) and 3 lecturers (Haji Abdul Muiz bin Haji Matali, Haji Awang Morni bin Haji Madali, and Chai Soon Fu) from the Well Engineering programme.

     

    The team will compete in the OIL RIG Design category where the students will be given a task to design an oil rig model in 4 hours using materials provided by the organiser. That will then be followed by the students presenting to a panel of experts. The students will be judged on their creativity and innovativeness.

     

    The 4 students concerned have been practising for many hours preparing for the competition.

    “OGFEST ’15” encourage students and young minds to be a part of the effort to widen knowledge regarding the oil and gas sector, to develop human capital and create awareness of global environmental sustainability. The aim of this event is to give broad and deeper understanding to every participant towards the latest development and technologies in the oil and gas industries.

     

    Moreover, this event will bring together students and experts related to the oil and gas industry to present their results, and to exchange experiences, ideas, and solutions regarding oil and gas problems in theoretical and practical aspects via discussions, seminars, company workshop, and refreshing competitions as well as to strengthen the kinship and friendship among students between universities and the Oil and Gas industry experts.
