Maybank Brunei today contributed 2 desktop computers, one each to Pusat Ehsan Al Ameerah Al Hajjah Maryam and SMARTER Brunei as part of their commitment to Politeknik Brunei’s 3P Program. Officially launched in June this year, the 3P Program or Program Pelajar Politeknik Penyayang, was created through the collaborative effort of the Centre for Student Development and Innovation (CSDI), Politeknik Brunei, Pusat Ehsan Al Ameerah Al Hajjah Maryam and SMARTER Brunei, and supported by 3 local-based financial institutions including Maybank Brunei Berhad. It is part of Politeknik Brunei’s key strategic development initiative of strengthening collaboration with its key stakeholders and private institutions.

Present to handover the contribution was Mr Lim Yu Kwang, the Country Head and General Manager of Maybank Berhad Brunei, who is also a member of the Board of Governors of Politeknik Brunei. On hand to receive the donation for Pusat Ehsan Al Ameerah Al Hajjah Maryam was Dato Paduka Mohd Alimin Hj Abd Wahab, Senior Trustee of Pusat Ehsan’s board of trustees, and Malai Hj Abdullah Malai Hj Othman, founder and president of SMARTER Brunei. The desktop computers will be used as teaching tools for the educational and skill programs at both institutions.

This program is part of Maybank Brunei Berhad’s Cahaya Kasih programme which is Maybank’s flagship volunteering programme initiated in 2006 that aims to tackle challenges faced by society, particularly obstacles to education and personal development. The cooperation between Politeknik Brunei, NGOs and Maybank Brunei is also part of the institution’s response to the call by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang DiPertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam to strengthen public and private sectors collaboration, and also a testament of Maybank Brunei’s long-term corporate and social responsibility and support of education in the country.
