The runner up, Dayangku Siti Nur Diyana binti Pengiran Shahminan from Politeknik Brunei, a student from Advanced Diploma in Information Systems and Technology, School of ICT, with her presentation titled ‘Nanotechnology’, won B$200 and free IET membership for one year.
The overall winner, Ayesha Salleh topped first place in this year's competition, with her presentation on ‘Synthetic Blood’, won B$300 and qualified for the IET Asia Pacific Regional PATW 2016 competition which will be held in Sydney, Australia in August.
The prizes were handed out by Simon Leong, Chairman of IET Brunei Network. A total of seven participants comprising students from higher education institutions including UTB and Politeknik Brunei as well young professionals from both government agencies and private companies presented their topics related to engineering and technology.
The competition aimed to give aspiring young engineers and technologists the opportunity to enhance their presentation skills, conveying complex technical information to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
The event emphasised more on presentation skills rather than technical content, enabling competitors at varying levels of their studies or career to participate on an equal level. The competition takes place throughout the world and starts at the IET Local Network (LN) level.
