The symposium will be held over two days from 30th to 31st of October 2019 at the International
Convention Centre, Berakas. The first day will consist of an opening ceremony and keynote speeches
in the morning session, and concurrent workshops in the afternoon. The second day will consist of
one plenary presentation and concurrent workshops in the morning, and one plenary presentation
and closing ceremony in the afternoon.
The fourth version of this symposium will carry the theme of; ‘Are You Ready for IR 4.0?’ It revolves
around how our education system and curricula can support the transformation brought about by IR
4.0 and the following subthemes:
• Education transformation in the era of industry 4.0
• Digital transformation in education
• Digitalisation and the new classroom
• New technologies in assessment and innovative assessment approaches
Just as digitalisation of the industries of the future is becoming pervasive, it also needs to be firmly
entrenched in the curriculum and its delivery.
Any education system and curriculum are only as good as it can meet the expectations of its
stakeholders. Graduates need to justify their diplomas by being able to demonstrate the skills that
they have learned. Industries need the assurance that diploma holders have the right capabilities and
the right competency levels that they need. Institutions need to ensure that their diplomas are
warranted and measured against accepted standards.
