Politkenik Brunei’s journey towards ISO certification initially began in September 2013 with ISO 9001:2008. With the recent launch of ISO 9001:2015, Politeknik Brunei transitioned to the new ISO standards, which superseded the previous version. In light of this, Politeknik Brunei has revised its strategies and quality management system (QMS) to comply with the new ISO standards. The new standard is focused on the institution’s stakeholders and emphasises on the ability to provide products and services that meets their needs as well as applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
Significant benefits can be realised by the implementation of ISO 9001 across all levels of the institution (all departments and schools) in its work processes and integration, environment, record and documentation management, stakeholders’ satisfaction, infrastructure and facilities. The concept of risk and risk based thinking is an integral component of ISO 9001:2015 and requires that all risks and opportunities to be addressed. Politeknik Brunei has integrated this into its QMS to maintain a customer focus and instill a culture of quality in both staff and students, in line with its vision and mission, and five-year development plan (2015-2020).
Looking beyond just certifications and compliance to requirements, Politeknik Brunei is continuously working towards promoting quality and ensuring that the QMS achieves long-term sustainable success in supporting Wawasan 2035.
The institution strives to develop, implement and continually improve a QMS based on the framework of ISO 9001:2015 embodying its vision to produce innovative, skillful and marketable graduates and to equip students with sustainable skills through holistic and quality education in a supportive teaching and learning environment.
